All MY Life's A Circle - - -

Today was the  Associate editors third annual meeting. We met under the pavilion at the Troutfitter promptly at 1:00pm and enjoyed BC's famous meatball subs that Dennis champions regularly. The business portion of the meeting was short, the story session lasted until about 4:00. Dave stopped by and had us in tears laughing at, among other things, his adventures with the resident pair of red squirrels. We left for fishing at 4:30 and could well have waited another half hour as the forecasted "cloudy day" turned into another bright, hot, sunny one.

The fishing  - It was after 5:00 when the first olives floated by, the fish seemed to know that there would be lots to eat and started slowly. When the hatch peaked there were both big, (18s), and the tiny olives all over the water. The fish appeared and started eating every olive that didn't have a hook in it. There were lots of refusals and ignores, some fish were hooked, some lost, it was both exciting and frustrating. Exciting to see so many bugs and fish, frustrating to see so few caught. When we waded to shore, the water was covered with spinners and not a fish seemed to care.

Upon my return to the fishing camp, I turned on the flood light in the back yard and there was my old friend the fawn that lost his mother two years ago and spent the summer/fall eating my peaches and apples and sleeping in the flower garden side of the house. He had one three inch spike last year and now proudly sports two nice nine inch spikes that are out of the velvet. With the three on a side rule, he'll probably get to live one more year than the average NY buck.

From A-119, a big thank you to the Associate Editors for taking the time to all get together  again, and to Dave for providing a place to meet and live entertainment.

    A119,
There is a pic on the DRC site of a guy with a Tiger trout caught above the Rte17 bridge yesterday. Ever caught a Tiger on the WB?

Pic made it to a big forum where people say it’s AI generated due to the fingers on the fisherman’s right hand. Funny!!!

Great report. Unfortunately for me I’ve never had anything good from BC. That place is terrible.

I want to thank the associate editors and A119 for sharing their knowledge!! It is a great help to me to ask questions about every topic and know I’ll get knowledgeable answers from guys with vast experience on the water.
The laughs were great and meatball subs are always good from BC pizza. Dave has a side job as a stand up comedian in the off season. Great story teller!!!!!!!

Yesterday morning on the BR was beautiful. Cool weather, light clouds, a bald eagle building a nest, and gorgeous water completely undisturbed by rising fish….sigh.

However, the associate editors meeting made up for a fishless morning. Lively discussions of spelling, grammar and punctuation abounded…..just kidding, we talked fishing. Great subs and cookies (thanks A119 and Dennis’ wife). As always, I learned a lot from all of you. And the stories always amaze me (fishing with Ted Williams!). I truly appreciate the friendships!

Made it back to NJ and there was this strange wet stuff falling from the sky. Too bad it was so far south.

Dave, good luck with the squirrels. If I see a new room that can be reserved on the Troutfitter site I will assume that the squirrels built it.

Angler119’and Dave- Thank You for hosting the Assoc. editors meeting. The fishing was difficult but the company and conversation was wonderful. “There is more to fishing than fishing”. And Dave was hysterical. The meatball subs were delicious and as always, so were Dennis’s wife’s cookies. It was a great time. Thanks again. Ed

Fished lower West early and BR late yesterday. Lots of anglers and boats must have all read the same wrong forecast I did as it was full sunshine on a predicted cloudy/showery day. A short olive hatch from 12-1:30 on WB provided decent action and then BR had bugs from 4pm on. Very fussy fish but did get enough to make it a good day.
