It's not that I couldn't have driven back down Monday morning, fished two days, then driven back to Lafayette for the Wednesday appointments, just didn't think it was worth it, had things that needed doing back home, and sometimes I just like to spend time with Jean.
Wasn't able to head for Lordville until 3:30, drove on dry roads all the way until leaving Hancock, where a mist required wipers to be put on intermittent, low. The main objective today was to get the hay in the barn. The lawn could have been mowed Friday but wasn't, and today it was wet and a good 8/9 inches tall. Had to go slowly and only cut about one half a swath of new grass on each pass. It was 6:45 before I put the mower in the garage.
Headed for the home pool with two rods, only to find a fisherman ensconced in the prime spot. Not having fished since Friday, I then decided to take a tour and assess the situation. Went up the PA side, crossed over into NY, and headed back to Lordville. Stopped at two places on the BR, two on the WB and one on the EB. Saw ten times as many deer as rises, two boats, and two fisherman.
The flows were up considerably, the water murky, risers and bugs virtually nonexistent.
Sat on the back porch with a PM and watched eight deer eating apples and peaches without being assessed a single flagrant 2 technical. (There were No Bugs to be seen circling the porch lights.)

Nice punt gun reference. There has been a noticable increase in bird life on the river this year. I have had merganser families float through the area I have been fishing on multiple occasions (usually they give a very wide berth), and have seen 4 bald eagles in the same area (eel weir) and saw 3 blue heron flying together a few weeks ago.

Fished the UEB yesterday (Wednesday) late afternoon and evening. Hooked 6 good fish (17-21”), landed 4, with one break off and one simply came unbuttoned. Sporadic olive hatch, but they were on them. In fact, I tried 5 different olive patterns that all worked. All sz 20. There was a PACK of mergansers, yes wolves, of nearly 20 marauding the lower end of the pool. An old punt gun would have been useful.
Angler119’- With the Willow at330cfs and the BK at 1700 and rising , I cancelled my plans to fish today. I’ll give a try next week. Hope your trigger finger issue has been resolved. All My Best Ed
Time to go striper fishing with that new rapala.
WOW that doesn’t sound very encouraging!!! I am going to try this weekend. It’s the last week of golf league so I’ll hopefully have more time to fish.
