Game called on account of rain.

Posted on September 08 2023

Call me a coward if you will, but I've been too close to too many lightning bolts this year. Got my waders on and heard the rumbles, the sky turned purple and I headed back to the fishing camp. It's six thirty and black as the inside of a cow's belly. Lightning is lighting up the sky south of the camp and Equinunk Creek has turned the far side of the river muddy. I'm done for the night and with thunderstorms scheduled for the foreseeable future, I'm not very hopeful. Check the flows before you go.

Angler119 -Sorry you got rained out but staying home was a smart move. Fished the Willow yesterday morning and got six fish on a #17 tan spent caddis. Nothing big .Went the UEB around 1:30. Bounced around looking for fishing fish, there were none, and got caught in a nasty t-storm. Waited out the rain ,so we thought, and back to the Willow. The air temp had dropped 15 degrees and the water temp was 66. Two more fish, 13” and 14”but now another t-storm . around 5:45. This must be the one that hit up by you. Back to the car at the first boomer .and headed home. It rained so hard we had to pull off in Liberty for a 1/2 hour and wait got it to slow down. And the cloud to cloud lightning was quite a show

“ black as the inside of a cow’s belly.”
Love it….do I have permission to use this?

I think I can weave it into a client meeting conversation.
“That timeline is as black as the inside of a cow’s belly.“

Stay safe and see you soon!
