Yesterdays fishing, (if you want to call it that), was no fun. Had a better chance of getting wind burn than catching a fish. With the forecast for today showing sustained winds up to 25mph, with higher gusts, I said no mas.
I've had a gallon of paint sitting on the porch since last May. Purchased it with the intent of painting the fly tying room, and today I did. The job went well, had on jeans that have "old" written in black magic marker under where my belt goes and it's a good thing I did 'cause I got a smear of paint on them. When I finished painting and cleaned everything up, I drove into town to get nuts and bolts at Bisbee's so I can put up another bluebird house, stopped at the Dollar Store to buy replacements for the shiny little pans that go under the burners on the stove, (the old ones are rusted out), and picked up a pound of butter and Gatorade at Tops. It's the biggest day of shopping I've done all year. On my return to the fishing camp I checked out the paint job and found two holidays. Had to reopen the paint and dirty the brush which downgraded the job from a B+ to a B-.
A four o'clock I went out and shot the bow. I've shot better, but some of the problem may have been the wind. At five I mixed a Perfect Manhattan and sat down in front of the sliding glass doors with the cocktail and a plate of cheese and crackers to watch the deer. Was entertained from the time I sat down until it was too dark to see. There were between six and nine does and fawns who seemed unusually nervous. They would be quietly feeding and then bolt off all in different directions. Finally about 6:15 I saw why. A five point buck, (seven if you wanted to count two small brow tines), had dropped by to check out the ladies. He was impressed, they were not.
The fishing - Lets just say I was in no danger of getting wind burn.

A119 …. thanks again for teaching us and keeping us well informed on another season of fishing the Delaware River area. Like so many others, I have followed your morning reports and learned much from your updates including the wildlife stories. Hope you enjoy your upcoming winter break in the Keys.
Ron K,
Melt than white cheddar with horseradish onto a nice piece of baked haddock or halibut…yum!
I don’t get music but I do get cooking.
A119 – Quite a busy day. Have you ever tried horseradish cheddar cheese ? Jim D., Ed S. and others, I enjoyed the music challenge.
Angler119’- I’ve been putting ointment on my windburn . Your advice to stay home was spot on . With wind gusts of over 30 mph , there were no bugs, no fish and it was friggin. Cold. I’ve achieved Einstien’s definition of insanity” Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results “. I must be nuts 🌰 , as bad as it was , I still enjoyed being on the water. Jim D -I also enjoy playing “name that tune “ with You , Ron K and others. I’ll study hard over the winter to improve my game. It’s a lot of fun. All My Best. Ed
Loved the painting story..sounds like me. Looks like a winding down time of the year.I really enjoy your story telling as it relates to a lot of things I enjoy. As to today’s blog title I’m going with an old Rick Nelson song..Garden Party. Quite an appropriate song. Cheers.
