Are "Dennis 2" and "The Other Dennis" one or two persons?
Why the DEC is having so much trouble this year keeping the water temperature under 75 at Lordville? They have run surges seven times this year, and three of them failed to keep the temperature below 75. They did much better in years past.
If all country western music lovers are bass fishermen? Why? There have been three phases in my music listening life, old time rock and roll, Harry Chapin, and Country Western. We are two deep in the old time rock and roll department with Ed Smith and Jim Dygert, Keith is well versed in Harry Chapin, but no one has commented on a single country western song used in page titles since I first started the reports. We pay our employees top dollar for their work. Surely there's a buckle bunny or a rodeo roper out there somewhere who owns a fly rod and a pair of waders instead of a boat with a 250 Yamaha attached to the back end, that could fill the position. The fishing - Been gone for three days and the changes are "gabber flasting". The summer sulfurs are doing their part. The hatch is spectacular both mid-day and evening. The fish have, in less than two weeks, gone from eating anything yellow that is floating down the river, to eating nothing but emergers. Where the hatch is well established, there is nary a fish nose to be seen or a glup to be heard. Boils a plenty, but dry fly offerings are simply ignored. Fished two hours in one of the best hatches I've seen in years, tipped my hat to the fish, and went upstream where the fish are still waiting for the hatch and looking for something to eat. Even my flies looked good to them. If you want to see sulfurs and fish eating their nymphs sub surface, go where the bugs are. If you want a chance to catch a fish or two, best bet is to get ahead of the hatch.
So I’m learning modern country due to my kids. Looking forward to seeing Luke Bryan Thursday.
But my loyalties are all over the road…
I love jazz and blues…Miles, BB, Charlie Parker and Louie are awesome. Modernize it a bit with Buckshot Lefonque (look up that one to find Branford Marsalis).
I’ll show my age by saying I love alternative stuff like New Order, Depeche Mode, NIN, and Moby. I doubt A119 will reference the alternative stuff.But you can’t beat Boston, AC/DC and YES…Meat Loaf!!
I grew up listening to classic country, and I like to pick it quite a bit on my telecaster. I’ll try to up my game on ID’ing the references. But to Jack’s point, I love Monk and Miles too. On the fishing front, my wife and are coming up this week to join the ranks of the rejected and dejected in the sulfur zone.
And all these years I thought all flyfishermen were all fans of Miles Davis and Thelonius Monk.

Angler119-Sounds like the fishing has gotten really difficult. Summer on the UWB. I can’t help with country and western(unless John Denver qualifies?) From the 50’s to the mid-80’s I’m ok. After that , not so good. For the 2020’’. S songs , I’d have to ask the granddaughters. Cool nod to Meat Loaf and Phil Rizzuto. Ed

I just thought “the other Dennis” was not quite right and I think I saw a post from a Dennis M (I am also am Dennis M) and I decided “the other-other Dennis” would be a step too far.
FWIW, In my Junior High School class of about 50 there were 4 Dennis’s. I don’t know what was in the water in Western Illinois in 1946. There were no Dennis’s in the birth years 1942 to 1950 in my school District. except in ’46.

You are correct that I am an older rocker..from the 60’s and 70’s..( I saw Led Zeppelin for $8.00)..I got into country briefly in the early 80’s when it was Willie, Waylon and Barbara Mandrell. Not the new country which is pop with a fiddle. If we get the predicted rain you could use “When the Levee Breaks” from Led Zeppelin. As far as questions with flies I’ve caught my three largest fish, on the Willow, with an emerger pattern that I tie. It’s a little modified version of a Davy McPhail pattern..I just change colors and size to match the hatch. Typically my go to!
I fly fish and love Bluegrass! I also sometime bass fish lol
I am into doo-wop. One of the best that would fit for fishing is “Wind” by the Diablos.
The Dennis’s are two different people. Meatloaf is one of my favorites not like Neil Diamond but up there.
I fished the mens club area last night and it was a struggle. When I got there the water was carpeted with sulphers. I thought a good day was in my future not in this case. I fished from 1:30 til 5:30 and no fish in the net. After dinner went back and fished til dark. 1 14in fish. I got my butt kicked. I Had 17 refusals. Frustrating to say the least.
Love the Meatloaf title….
Can’t really help on the country music side as I am too new to it all. I am going to see Luke Bryan on Thursday…should I ask him to come trout fish with us?
