Returned to the Lordville Estate today not having missed fishing in 45 degree rain one bit, until I heard reports of heavy Hendrickson hatches in Deposit, March Browns all over the UEB, and March Browns, Invaria, and rising fish on the BR.
Got the food in the fridge, the clothes put away and headed up the PA side where a string of boats heading down river from Buckingham all had people up and casting. There were fish rising in all the pools, and then the sun came out.
Drove east and stopped at a place on the BE, saw a few fish rising, put on the waders and gave it a try. Hooked two fish right away on a rusty spinner and with visions of a replay of last Friday dancing in my head, headed for the next rise, and the next, and the next. Never got a sniff from any of them. Got one indignant refusal on the way back to the car.
Drove up rte. 30 all the way to Shinhopple without seeing a bug on the water or a fish rise. Picked a spot that was partially shaded and fished. There were a few caddis hatching and no fish rising. In an hour and a half of fishing I got two takes and four refusals. It's now after 5:00 and I can't find a bug hatching or a fish rising anywhere. Returned to the car and drove around watching boats rowing out with anglers all sitting down, with no fish rising anywhere.
Finished up the day on the WB with the sun off the water, some caddis egg layers inn the air, a few caddis hatching and the fish very careful about what they ate.

Nice Joan Anderson reference!!
Had a decent hour and half on the BK Saturday late afternoon. Risers to Hendrickson of which there was a solid hatch, and MB emerger, just a few. Had the place to myself which was nice.
Finished up my morning on the BE. A few sulphers, more than a few 12-14 dark gray caddis, and one small rainbow.
Plenty of refusals
Last night on the BK there was a ton of big gray caddis at the jaws, a smattering of spinners, and one trout I saw rise that I did not catch.
Dennis -What a fantastic day. Six fish landed on the UWB is a great day for anyone. Add in a 17”er and a big 19” brown. Wow !! What a day . Congratulations. Ed
Angler119’- Boy oh boy, sounds like a very tough day.The sun really shut things down. But I’m sure Judy would be smiling . Ed
I fished the WB yesterday above the rr bridge and had a pretty good day for me. Not as good as A119. I landed 6 fish including a 19 in rainbow and a 17 in. Brown. There was a very good Hendrickson hatch and the fish were eating. There were caddis, apple caddis and a fishermen said March browns. I did not see the March browns. Hopefully things are picking up
