Having taken pains assembling a seemingly well qualified panel of septuagenarians and octogenarians, all supposedly well versed in music from the 50's and 60's, I was appalled when Jim N., (exquisite fly-tyer though he may be), (but a still wet behind the ears newbie), was first on a Beach Boy's song. Compounding my pain was the fact that he then had the audacity to suggest a Cure by establishing a New Order that would never let me down again.
Things didn't improve today when no one, young or old, gave credit to Spiral Staircase for Every Days a New Day. Diana Ross's song didn't appear until 1999. Too bad Black Boat isn't around to keel haul the lot of you.
Hope at least one of the eleven cars parked at the Hale Eddy bridge Friday evening can tell those of us who couldn't find a parking space what we missed.
Hope to see you on the river Monday.

A119 – It will try was a weak moment on my part.
At least were not walking the plank!
“Wet behind the ears newbie?” I’ll take that even though I was going for “whipper snapper”!🤣
But yes I even owned the Beach Boys Endless Summer album as a kid. Not a CD or cassette and don’t even ask me how Spotify works.
This blog is “Just Like Heaven”!
Thanks A119! Great fun!!!!
Okay, A-119. I plead guilty to not acknowledging as many classic song references as in years past. But thanks for keeping them coming.
True, The Brothers Four gave an excellent rendition. But we need to acknowledge the source—the play The Fantasticks—the world’s longest-running musical and longest-running off-Broadway play. Originally performed by the great Jerry Orbach, who is sadly missed.
Here’s hoping that I can soon head up from the Bronx and run into you streamside.

Angler119’-Sorry to disappoint on yesterday’s song. I remembered the words , but not the singer. I’ll try harder. But I give Jim N credit for knowing the Beach Boys. And. Jim D for ringing in on El Gallo . Kudos to both. Question – Despite my years of experience , In fishing the UWB, I found myself “chasing” the rise. Rather than concentrating on one fish I started casting the latest riser. I assume now that this was the wrong , that is, a terrible approach. Enjoy the weekend. And catch El Gallo on Law and Order. A tremendous actor. Ed
Okay Richard… I’ll go with The Brothers Four for today for the blog title.. It’s been recorded by a gazillion artists from Ed Ames to Gladys Knight to even Jerry Ohrbach in the broadway play The Fantastics.. wonderful song…and please be careful wading..
