Waders REJOICE

Posted on May 25 2019

Starting at about noon yesterday NYC began stepping down releases on their reservoirs. As of 8:00 am this morning all rivers in the system are wadeable. The big river is still quite high but should continue dropping during the day.

There is no telling the effect the drop in water will have on the fish but it will give wade fishermen access to the entire river system for the first time in the last ten months.

Hope it doesn't rain.

Boat fishing sucks!! It’s all about numbers and not the experience of being on the water. Not to mention you can’t or its very difficult to fish by yourself with a boat. What about those who can’t afford a boat? Are should they not be allowed to fly fish the system because they don’t have a “cool boat” in the should be drift fishery?

Worst day of the year for boaters when this happens, river fishes so much better when the water is high. My advice to waders is to buy or rent a boat the fishery should be a drifting fishery if you ask me!
