To highlight the biodiversity of the Upper Delaware River watershed and, in particular, the portion of the watershed in Wayne County, PA, we are producing a BioBlitz event June 28-29, 2013. The event will be free and open to the public and potentially the first annual or biannual Upper Delaware BioBlitz.
For our BioBlitz we will have the following 9 teams:
- Aquatic Macroinvertebrates (Aquatic Insects)
- Birds
- Botany (Plants)
- Fish
- Fungi (Mushrooms and Molds)
- Herps (Reptiles and Amphibians)
- Invertebrates (Insects, Worms, Snails, Mussels)
- Mammals
- Mosses and Lichens
The teams will assemble on the site at 12 Noon on Friday, June 28th, collect specimens, camp on site, and continue collecting until 12 noon the following Saturday.
Some teams, such as Mammals, Birds and Invertebrates, have prime collecting times after dark. They will then identify and catalog everything they have collected.
On Saturday, June 29th from 9 AM till 3 PM, the public is invited to view the collected specimens, talk to the experts, and learn about the biodiversity of the target site.
