After a short break for the holidays we’re back in action at Andros South, our bonefishing lodge on Andros Island in the Bahamas.  The lodge has a fresh coat of paint, Bruce Chard is back hosting another bonefishing school, and all is pretty much right with the world.

To celebrate we’re passing on 3 random tips about bonefishing!

  1. For a soft landing, cast sidearm.  If you’re in a situation where you need to land the fly softly (shallow water and/or spooky fish), try a sidearm cast for more ‘bloop’ and less ‘plonk’!
  2. Walk where he came from.  When you’re walking a flat and you start to see fish, walk generally in the direction that the fish are coming from.  It sounds obvious, but it’s all too easy to get caught up in your ‘plan’ for fishing the flat, as opposed to heading where the fish are actually coming from today.
  3. Try some lens wipes.  Boat spray got salt all over your fancy glasses again?  The great thing about these lens wipes is that they get the salt off and get your lenses clean in one easy step.

We’d love to have you join us at Andros South – drop us a line if you feel the same way.
