We’re all about roughing it, but one luxury we’d rather not live without is good strong coffee. A hot cup of coffee is God sent on a cool day on the water, and we make sure to make it part of our program each day.
There are a lot of good coffee making options today for the ‘dirtbag’ coffee lovers out there. However, our favorite way to brew quality coffee in the bush is via an Aeropress Coffee Maker. The Aeropress was brought to our attention years ago by Alaska West guide, Jim Palmersheim, and we have been a huge fan ever since. It travels with us all the way from Alaska to the Bahamas!
What makes the Aeropress so great? For starters, it’s light, simple, compact, and at $29.99 it’s relatively inexpensive.. Perfect for anyone living that ‘off the grid’ lifestyle. It also makes coffee in 60 seconds (once water is heated), so you don’t waste any quality fishing time. Not to mention it produces the best cup of coffee we’ve ever brewed, bar none! In fact, several of our guides use the Aeropress as their coffee maker of choice at home between seasons as well!
If you’re a dirtbag like us who enjoys a cup of coffee in the middle of nowhere, do yourself a favor and pick up an Aeropress.
