We had lunch with AFFTA president Ben Bulis in Denver yesterday, and we have to say we’re pretty pumped up that the IFTD show is coming back to Denver after nearly 10 years, in October 2019. AFFTA is already ironing out details.
Keep in mind that IFTD will be joined with ICAST one more year, and at that show next July, Bulis will be signing up exhibitors for Denver. You need to be in Orlando next year to have dibs on space.
In fairness, the show is always what you make of it, and our times in Orlando have been productive. But jeez, considering that 80 percent of this market revolves around trout, won’t it be nice to be in a place where there actually are trout? And won’t it be nice not frying in the Florida sun and humidity in July? And how about the timing? October can be prime for fishing in Colorado, but that’s not in the middle of the high business season for most of us.
Of course, there’s a lot that will happen between now and then, and we’ll be covering the story. But we encourage people to start the dialogue now, and start making plans for a strong return to the Mile High City.
