From BHA:
Following today’s introduction in the U.S. House of Representatives of a bipartisan resolution affirming the value of America’s public lands, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers President and CEO Land Tawney offered the following response:
“Loudly and consistently, American sportsmen have raised our voices in support of our public lands and waters. We the people have spoken, yet some of our elected officials are slow to hear us – and continue to plot ways to steal from citizens our fish and wildlife habitat, our hunting and fishing access, and our outdoor traditions.
“This bipartisan effort by members of Congress sends a strong message regarding the value of U.S. public lands, the outdoor opportunities they offer and the economic power they represent. BHA looks forward to continuing to collaborate with forward-looking decision makers to assure the future of our public lands legacy – for our kids and the generations that follow.”
The House concurrent resolution was introduced this afternoon by Rep. Alan Lowenthal, a Democrat from California, and Rep. Dave Reichert, a Republican from Washington.
In July, the Republic National Committee’s platform panel endorsed an amendment promoting the transfer of public lands to individual states.
Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is the sportsmen’s voice
for our wild public lands, waters and wildlife.
