Position Description

The Membership and Communications Coordinator works closely with the Director of Development and Communications, the Finance and Operations Manager and the Marketing Manager and is responsible for managing and growing BTT’s membership program and supporting BTT’s communications efforts, including e-newsletters, membership campaigns, support for the annual journal production and other content creation including the monthly e-newsletter and quarterly members-only e-newsletter as well as contributions to BTT’s blog, website and social media content.

Location This position is based in Coral Gables, Florida and reports to the Director of Development and Communications.

Start Date Mid-July, 2016.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Membership and Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing and growing BTT’s membership program through the use of targeted member acquisition campaigns and member retention communications and programs. S(he) is responsible for working with current corporate partners to develop membership incentives, working with the Marketing Manager to develop and execute membership and renewal campaigns, and serves as the main point of contact for BTT members.

S(he) is also responsible for managing the membership database, generating membership reports and identifying major donor prospects.

The Membership and Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing membership incentives and materials and works with the Finance and Operations Manager to ensure timely membership fulfillment.

S(he) executes membership acquisition and renewal campaigns, the monthly e-newsletter and the quarterly members-only newsletter.

S(he) supports efforts to establish new partnerships to advance BTT’s marketing and membership objectives.

S(he) supports the Director of Development and Communications and Marketing Manager by helping to product relevant content for the annual journal, blog, social media, press releases, marketing materials and website.

The Membership and Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing the BTT online store offerings.

Qualifications

Requirements for the Membership and Communication Coordinator position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and two or more years relevant experience in membership, fundraising, marketing, public relations and/or communications.
  • Strong writing ability.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or other CRM software.
  • Ability to thrive in a small office environment and work in a collaborative role with others.
  • Demonstrated ability in using discretion where appropriate and maintaining confidentiality in all matters, especially pertaining to donors and their records.
  • Ability to travel frequently and on short notice.
  • Knowledge of recreational fisheries, fishing and the philanthropic markets associated with them a plus.

Compensation: Competitive among non-profit organizations and commensurate with experience.
