The San Francisco Chronicle‘s fishing columnist reports that fall fishing for steelhead and rainbows is terrific on the Trinity, Middle Klamath and Lower Sacramento rivers. In case you are not a regular reader of columnist Brian Hoffman, here’s a taste of his tumbling freestone style of fishing writing. “Or you can make the drive and fish, make the cast and hope, set the hook and pray, fight the fish and sweat, kneel down and finally heft what you’ve caught, a steelhead survived from stream to ocean to river again, and you thinking Sweet mercy, this fish is 12 pounds, before you remove the hook and send it on its way …”
