— Thousands of New Voters Urged To Vote on November 7

To Help End Years of Devastating Flood Damage —

New York, New York — The New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (NYLCVEF) and the Friends of the Upper Delaware River Basin (FUDR) kicked-off a voter education drive last week. The first-ever voter drive urges citizens to learn about candidates’ plans to address flooding issues in the Delaware River Basin and elect to state and federal office on November 7 the candidates who are best qualified to address this important issue.

The Delaware River Basin has been hard-hit by three floods in two years that have devastated homes, streams, and the quality of drinking water.

“We launched this voter drive to urge citizens to become engaged in the political process as a way to find solutions to the harmful effects of flooding,” said Marcia Bystryn, executive director of the New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund. “From our view, a well-informed citizenry is the best way to effect change.”

“Residents of the Delaware River Basin have an important choice to make on November 7, and we hope they choose candidates committed to serious solutions that will offset flood damage for years to come in their communities,” said Craig Findley, President of Friends of the Upper Delaware River.

As part of the drive, NYLCVEF and FUDR have launched a major direct mail and phone banking campaign.
