Eric Sharp suggests that one look at the real economics of Great Lakes fisheries will make a solution to invasive species problems obvious: plug up both entrances to the lake on the east and west. “Yet we can now count some 180 exotic species in the lakes, many arriving in the ballast water from ocean-going ships and most costing us money.” Lots of good detail here on the various problems caused by aquatic hitchhikers.
