Eagle Claw Featherlight Vs. Milkfish

Posted on December 17 2012

A couple weeks ago Owen, a.k.a. "Piscineidiot", joined the Fiberglass Flyrodders forum and he shared these images in his first post of the "locals" that he's been tangling with on a fiberglass fly rod in Queensland, Australia.

Owen wrote...  "I just recently acquired my first ever fiberglass flyrod...a 6'6" Eagleclaw Featherlight which is a 4/5 weight.  It's not the best rod in the world, but it suits my purposes perfectly.  The first fish I caught on it were archerfish (the ones that spit at bugs above the water), and they were fun, but there's another species we get around here that I always thought would be a hoot on the glass...the milkfish.  They fight much harder than most things swimming about and live in the saltwater.  When hooked up, they really bend the fiberglass rods."

I am giving Owen extra credit style points for putting a serious bend on and doing this with an Eagle Claw Featherlight.  So damn cool.
