As summer temperatures increase, Fishpond is raising awareness of protecting fish when the water heats up. In Montana, “Hoot Owl” restrictions go into effect when water temps hit 73°F for three consecutive days, and closes down fishing between 2PM and midnight. This allows fish to rest and not face additional stresses during the hottest part of the day. Fishpond urges anglers to self-impose these restrictions for the health of their local trout populations, and have released a limited edition t-shirt to raise awareness about Hoot Owl Closures. 100% of proceeds will be donated to American Rivers.
