“The callibaetis hatch through much of the summer. Swarms of the adult mayflies are evident on most days. Even so, most of the action for fishermen occurs below the surface. Fish occasionally will rise to the adults or pluck the spent insects that have returned to the water to lay their eggs from the surface, but day in and day out, they will pay far more attention to the nymphs and emergers.” Karl Licis writes about a “summer staple” for lake and reservoir trout in the Denver Post.
