"Fly Tyer" and "American Angler" Announce Digital Subscriptions

Posted on December 02 2010

If you’re a reader of electronic magazines — and especially if you live outside the U.S. — Morris Communications’ announcement that they will begin offering digital-only subscriptions to their fly-fishing titles may brighten your day. Currently the cost of a one-year subscription to Fly Tyer (and many other magazines printed in the U.S.) is twice as expensive for Canadian subscribers and three times as expensive for European readers due to postage charges. The digital-only options for Fly Tyer and American Angler offers the magazines in flip-page and downloadable .pdf format to readers who don’t need or want the print version.
Steve Walburn, editor of American Angler and general manager of the Morris Sporting Group, also hinted that Morris will be delivering their magazines on even more platforms in the future. “We are simply offering this new digital-only option in response to reader demand, especially from overseas readers. Our ultimate goal is to allow each subscriber to enjoy the magazines in the medium of their choice. Some will want print. Some will want digital. Some may want both. This also takes us closer to having an iPad app with a subscription option for each magazine, as well.”
You can see samples of the digital versions of Fly Tyer here and American Angler here.
