Fly lines don’t last forever, nor are they designed with a lifetime of use in mind. Thus, depending on how often you fish, replacing your line somewhat regularly is necessary for peak performance.

However, they’re also not cheap! And as many anglers can attest, there’s something disheartening about chucking a heap of fly line in the garbage you originally paid upwards of ninety bucks for. If you’re like us, that equates to years worth of of zip-lock bags full of unmarked fly lines that, you know, maybe we’ll find a use for. There’s got to be something you could use these old lines for, right?

Well, there is.. Enter, Flyvines.

Flyvines – Good Stuff Made From Recycled Fly Lines

For the last couple years, the good folks at Flyvines have been making some pretty awesome products made entirely from recycled fly lines. From hand braided bracelets, to functional fishing lanyards, to rugged dog collars, to stylish sunglasses retainers, to classy coasters, Flyvines has found a way to make super cool (and affordable we might add) products while keeping old tackle out of the landfill.. Something we find incredibly cool.

Arguably the fishiest dog collars of all time.

We were intrigued (and maybe a bit jealous we hadn’t thought of it first) of the idea when Flyvines first came on the scene a few years ago, but were finally able to catch up with owner, Erin Kane, this year at the Fly Fishing Show to see some of their products first hand. Needless to say, we were taken not only by the idea, but by the quality of the products as well. Good stuff with a good purpose – That’s a win, win.
