When you think of sipping a cool drink in the Caribbean, you might be thinking about piña coladas, daiquiris, maybe a dark and stormy..

Well, in the Bahamas, the traditional adult beverage of choice is Gully Wash – A sweet, creamy, coconut flavored concoction made from fresh coconut water, condensed milk, and a whole bunch of other things.

Also known to some as ‘Sky Juice,’ Gully Wash is a fan favorite here at Andros South, and if you ask really nicely, our staff will even whip up a batch from our own coconuts. Here’s how it’s prepared.

Gully Wash Recipe from Rosalie Knowles

Gully Wash is relatively simple to make, and can be adjusted to your taste and desired strength. For approximately a gallon’s worth (remember we’re running a fishing lodge here!), follow the recipe below. Remember, a little goes a long way.. Please drink responsibly!

  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla.
  • 1 Cup Coconut Flavored Rum.

Mix up well, serve chilled, and enjoy!
