Today we wrap up our mini-series of posts about spey rods designed for king salmon.
We started the series back on July 4th, with a post introducing the concepts surrounding spey rods purpose-built for kings. Based on our testing at BC West during the first week of our 2012 season, we ran reviews of 4 double-handers made with chinooks in mind.
We’ll wrap things up with one-sentence summaries of each of the rods with tested, with handy links bank to the full review for your king rigging pleasure. Thanks for following along!
King Salmon Spey Rod Reviews
- ECHO K-10130King. It’s an easy-loading rod that’s especially great for sustained-anchor casts and costs less than half the price of other rods in our lineup.
- Sage 10130-4 ONE. This is a powerful premium rod that’s so light it’ll change your perspective on what spey rod length means.
- Pieroway Metal Detector 720. Brian Niska designed a rod that combines a fast, powerful mid-section with softer tip and butt sections, and the result is a unique action that we love.
- Scott T2h 12510/4. This is a cannon of a spey rod, not for the faint of heart, and the best tool we’ve ever used for fighting big fish.
