When I first started messing around with fiberglass fly rods over fifteen years ago, Mike McFarland of McFarland Rods was one of a very small handful of rod builders and blank makers. And when I say a "very small handful" please know that number was a dozen or so and not the hundred (or many more) who have embraced fiberglass fly rods over the years.
Then, as now, Mike's work, in blank or finished fly rod form, is highly sought after and he continues to innovate. There's been so much innovation that it's been tough to keep up with the many offerings that he's come up and the freshly revamped McFarland Rods website really brings clarity to the many different series and offerings that are currently available for order.
Now decide, what caught your eye? I've asked Mike to roll me a heavy spinning rod and I keep hearing that the GTX Series is mind-blowing...
