New York Fly Fishing & Brew Festival

Mark your calendars for the first annual New York Fly Fishing & Brew Festival scheduled for May 6 & 7, 2017 at Fireman’s Park in Hancock, NY, located on the banks of the East Branch Delaware River. The Upper Delaware River Watershed is touted by many fly fishing notables as the finest trout fishery in the eastern United States.

Fly fishers throughout the Northeast will be able to speak directly to manufactures and national brand retailers about their products, learn about new products, get tips from the pros, see fly tying demonstrations, attend classes for all ages, experience in-water drift, kayak and pontoon boat demonstrations (conditions permitting), and learn about protecting our natural resources. There will be a focus on special initiatives for women and children as well.

Festival Director Mark Kacmarik said “at the heart of this event is the goal of conservation through education. I established the New York Fly Fishing & Brew Festival to create a greater conservation awareness of this pristine environment. It’s a celebration of the conservation efforts that we’ve accomplished together to date and a promotion to further spur more efforts”. He also added, “The mission of the New York Fly Fishing & Brew Festival is three-fold; gain greater conservation support from the public, promote current conservation measures and the ethics that the fly fishing community has adopted, and attract more women and children to fly fishing and this conservation effort”.

Appealing to all ages, the 2017 New York Fly Fishing & Brew Festival is a two-day event. Attendees can listen to lectures designed for all age groups from industry experts and practice hands-on skills, enjoy food, live music, and for those 21 years of age and over, sample micro brewed beers from local micro-breweries, made from the pristine water of the Upper Delaware River Watershed. There will be raffle prizes and a door prize as well.
