NOAA To Fund Red Tide Study

Posted on October 13 2006

Good news for southwest Florida anglers: NOAA has agree to fund research into the problem of persistent red tides that have visited coastal fisheries in recent years. Apparently they think that nutrient runoff may play a big role and want to prove — or disprove — it. “A $4.7 million federal grant will allow scientists to focus on nutrient runoff from farms, coastal development and factories as a possible cause of southwest Florida’s persistent red tide problem.” Aritcle from the Associated Press.
