Orvis Revamps Its Safe Passage Line of Vest-Packs

Sling Pack

Safe Passage Sling Pack

Over-the-shoulder  and out-of-the-way convenience, with a large main compartment for fly boxes and accessories.  Includes a plier sheath with attachment point for the safety lanyard, a forcep sheath on the shoulder strap with magnetic anchor, a zinger attachment point, fly-drying foam patches inside the main compartment, and adjustable shoulder and girth straps.  Dimensions are 15″ x 9″ x 3 1/2″ for a total 472-inch capacity.  Pack only: $69.  Fully loaded: $198. Available in December 2010.

Tri Pack (front)

Safe Passage Tri Pack

A fully adjustable backpack with dual front chest pack compartments, the Tri Pack features a perforated-foam, ergonomic  neck pad for comfort.   It also has a Hypalon patch with magnetic tool anchor for zinger attachment, padded forcep pockets behind the chest packs, two front and two side stretch mesh pockets, and a front pocket that opens wide for easy access.  The backpack is also hydration-bladder compatible.   Altogether the Tri Pack includes 1,140 cubic inches of storage space.  $119 Available in January 2011.

Waist/Hip Pack

A convenient pack for shallow water wading, the Waist/Hip Pack puts the weight on your hips.  There are two compartments, lots of interior pockets, and a key clip for storage. The padded waist belt features adjustable load lifters.  Like the other packs, this one has durable Hypalon patches for zinger attachment with a magnetic tool anchor to keep tools in place and a convenient padded forcep pocket on the back panel.  The removable foam fly patch attaches to the top of the pack or inside of the front pocket which opens wide for easy access to your fly boxes.  The pack has side mesh pockets which will hold two water bottles.  The Hip/Waist Pack comes with an adjustable ergonomic neck strap for optional use as a chest pack.  The packs dimensions are: 13 1?2″L x 8 1?2″W x 6″D and it has a storage capacity of 688 cubic inches.  It weighs in at 1.3 pounds.  Available in January for $89

Trout Waist Pack

This is a great pack for the hip boot angler who fishes small streams.  The two compartments have lots of interior pockets, and a key clip for storage.  There is a padded waist belt and durable Hypalon patches for the zinger attachment with magnetic tool anchor to keep tools where you put them and a convenient padded forcep pocket on the back panel.  There are two removable foam fly patches which attach to the top of the pack or inside of the front pocket which opens wide for easy access to your fly boxes.  The front mesh pockets are designed to fit tippet spools.  The Trout Waist Pack comes with an adjustable ergonomic neck strap for optional use as a chest pack.  Its dimensions are: 12″L x 6 1?2″W x 4 1?2″D, and the storage capacity measures out at 351 cubic inches.  It weighs 1 pound. Available in January 2011 for $69.

Anglers Day Pack

Safe Passage Angler’s Day Pack

The hydration bladder compatible Angler’s Day Pack features a streamlined form which was designed to minimize fly line snags.  It has adjustable perforated mesh shoulder straps for padded comfort to go along with a tension-curved back panel with frame sheet which keeps pack off of the wearer’s back for maximum air flow.  There are easy access side mesh pockets and a large main compartment with a small zippered front pocket.  The insulated cooler compartment helps to keep your drinks and lunch cool.  It is compatible with the Micro Chest Pack, the Vertical Chest Pack and the Large Capacity Chest Pack.  Each of which can be attached to the Angler’s Day Pack front shoulder
straps while fishing, or, attached to the back while hiking.  The dimensions are: 18″H x 12″W x 9″D.  It has a capacity of  1,944 cubic inches and weighs 2.3 pounds.  MSRP is $149, and it will be available in January 2010.

Large Capacity Chest Pack

The Safe Passage Large Capacity Chest Pack has three compartments with lots of interior pockets to go with a key clip for organization.  The streamlined form helps to minimize snags while the perforated foam and ergonomically shaped neck pad ensures comfort.  The adjustable neck strap detaches so you can easily take the pack off.  It comes with a net loop and two removable and adjustable waist straps (regular and large) for a perfect fit.  There is a durable Hypalon patch for the zinger attachment which features a magnetic tool anchor to keep tools up against the pack.  It also has a padded forcep pocket on the back panel  and a removable foam fly patch which attaches to the top of the pack or inside the front pocket.  Finally there are two front pockets designed to hold tippet spools, and a back panel hand warmer for cold weather.  The dimensions are: 11″H x 8 1?2″W x 4 1?2D”. Capacity is slated at 420 cubic inches.  The pack weighs 1.4 pounds.  Available in January 2011 for $89.

This pack has two compartments, a key clip,  a net loop, and lots of interior pockets for storage.  It has a streamlined form to minimize snags.  The perforated foam and ergonomically shaped neck pad ensures comfort while the adjustable neck strap detaches to easily remove the pack.  There are two removable and adjustable waist straps (regular and large).  The sturdy Hypalon patch for the zinger attachment which has a magnetic tool anchor to keep tools secured to the pack.  There is a padded forcep pocket on the back panel, a removable foam fly patch which attaches to the top of the pack or inside the wide-opening front pocket.  Put your tippet spools in the front mesh pocket.  Dimensions are: 8 1?2″H x 6 1?2″W x 4 1?4″D.  Storage capacity measures in at 234 cubic inches.  It weighs one pound.   Available in January 2011 for $59.
