Orvis Virtual Fly Tying 101

Posted on January 21 2021

I've mentioned it several times during the coronavirus pandemic that no company within the fly fishing industry has dove deeper into social media and virtual engagement than Orvis and their almost daily sessions have been a great way to learn everything from fly tying, casting, techniques or angling methods, rod shop and factory visits, and even the history of this sport.

Tom Rosenbauer continues to more than earn his paycheck with the Orvis Virtual Fly Tying 101 classes that start later this month.  If you've ever wanted to learn how to tie your own flies, this is a great way to learn from the comfort of your pandemic home office.

From the Orvis presser...

Join us for this five-class series hosted by renowned fly-fishing mentor, Tom Rosenbauer. Each week’s virtual class will feature a new pattern as well as provide you with the techniques you need as you get started tying your own flies. These live classes will take you through the entire tying process, step-by-step from beginning to end, with easy-to-follow instructions. When you sign up, you will also receive a checklist of all the materials you will need to tie each pattern. Every class will be recorded and available online, so you can go back and replay the entire class or review particular segments at any time.

Here is the 2021 schedule:

  • February 4 – Elk Hair Caddis
