Paris by Air
Located 1,300 miles south of Hawaii, Kiritimati (or Christmas Island), is on the bucket list for many recreational anglers. Recently, Dr. Andy
Danylchuk, Patagonia Fly Fishing Ambassador, and a group of colleagues and
dedicated anglers traveled to Kiritimati to conduct ground breaking
research on giant trevally and bonefish - research that will form the
basis of scientifically-based best practices for catch-and-release of
these prized species. On his trips, Andy likes to get a fresh
perspective of the flats and other aquatic habitats from high above the
waterline, like in this image of the iconic Paris flats - an important
movement corridor for bonefish as they prepare to spawn. Only once we
get a view from above do we realize how little we really are.
