Podcast: Scratch Radio Interviews Yvon Chouinard

Posted on February 01 2011

NPR’s Scratch Radio interviewer Jessica Harris gets Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard to open up about a challenging childhood, working for Howard Hughes, falconry, and the passions that lead him toward success in the outdoors apparel business.
“Yeah, we move to California when I was seven and was put into an English speaking school, and I remember a few days later I just ran away from school. That kind of set me out on a different path…. High school was a horror for me. I had pimples. I was the shortest guy in school. I didn’t go to the prom, that’s for sure. I was probably down in the bottom of the river gigging frogs and catching crawdads…. [nature] saved my life.” Listen to the complete podcast here.
