Portage Creek May Lose Brown Drakes Forever

Posted on August 06 2006

Author Charles Meck says that Pennsylvania’s Sinnemahoning Portage may never quite recover from the disastrous spill that scoured its banks of all life one month ago. In article noting a similar permanent loss of green drakes after a chemical poisoning of Spring Creek, Meck says, “‘It could be years and may never be quite the same after something like that. It had a great, great Brown Drake hatch, the same one you’d find on Henry’s Fork and Silver Creek in Idaho.'” Deborah Weisberg in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
