On May 20, 2007 the Rose River Farm near Madison, Virginia will host the First Annual Project Healing Waters Two Fly Tournament. Rose River owner Douglas Dear explains his motivation for creating the event, which helps wounded vets rehabilitate through fly fishing and fly tying: “Having just spent an afternoon at Walter Reed recruiting for PHW I can tell you that there are many wounded members of the Armed Forces that need our support. The testimonials from the wounded heroes who have participated in the program were incredibly moving. They made me realize just how important a little time on the water can be for someone who is living in a hospital (in many cases for over a year) while undergoing treatment and rehabilitation therapy.” The entry fee for a two person team is $500 and a sponsorship for a two person injured Veteran and Professional guide team is $2,500.
