Raised Voices

Posted on May 03 2014

We all drive, walk and bike over countless bridges each day, but we seldom think about the noise we’re creating for the ecosystem below us.  New research published in the April issue of Behavioral Ecology examines how fish are reacting to our increasingly noisy world. In short, they are raising their voices too. “There are a lot of fish out there that make sounds, especially in these small freshwater streams,” explains Dan Holt, fisheries biologist at Auburn University in Alabama. “A lot of questions remain to be answered.” Via Discovery.
