Today we’ve got a little preview of one of the cooler pieces of gear that we saw at IFTD in New Orleans a couple of weeks ago. It’s a softshell hoody by Sage, and its full legal name is the “QUEST Softshell Insulated Hoody”.
What makes it cool? Well, it’s a softshell hoody to start, which to us is one of the more practical pieces of angling clothing out there. Softshells shed non-Irene amounts of rain but stretch, breathe and are super-comfortable. Hoods protect your head from wind, bugs, errant casts, and your overly-chatty boat mate.
The unusual feature here is the fact that the body is insulated with ultra-cozy Primaloft, but the sleeves are just softshell material with no insulation. This thing keeps you warm, but allows for very easy arm and shoulder movement. Hmmm…you think somebody at Sage likes to swing flies for anadromous fish? Seriously, this seems like an ideal jacket for the two-handed cool weather angler.
It’ll set you back $250 when it ships in February.
