“He was surprised somebody like Tom McGuane or the late George Plimpton hadn’t already tackled the subject. My guess is McGuane is too much of a snooty fly fisherman and Plimpton would have put too much of himself in the story. The right man wrote Sowbelly.” Good thing the disparagement of refined tastes hasn’t completely gone out of style — else the Hook and Bullet press would have lost one of its favorite themes.
