There’s one! Photos: Peter Viau.

We talk a lot about how to the untrained eye, bonefish can be pretty hard to spot. However, sometimes they stick out like a sore thumb! It’s no secret that light conditions have a lot to do with visibility, but the color of the bottom also plays a huge role in how well (or not so well) bonefish blend in to their surroundings.

Until you see it for yourself, it’s hard to explain just how different bonefish can appear depending on bottom color. However, our good friend and long time Andros South guest, Peter Viau, recently sent us some killer photos that we think does a great job highlighting just what bonefish can look like depending on the bottom, and today we share those photos with you!

Each photo contains bonefish, can you spot them all?
