Stocking Remote New Hampshire Lakes

Posted on August 07 2006

“Early anglers were among the first explorers of headwater streams, icy cold mountain brooks feeding the upper reaches of the Connecticut, Merrimack, Ammonoosuc, Saco, Wild and Androscoggin rivers. Legend has it that the Flume Gorge in Franconia Notch on the north branch of the upper Pemigewassett River was discovered before 1809 by 93-year-old Aunt Jessie Guernsey, who was trout fishing.” Dave Anderson contributes an interesting piece about helicopter stocking of New Hampshire lakes with brook trout. In the Concord Monitor.
