When I contacted Pat Cohen of Super Fly a few weeks ago to see if he'd tie a patriotic themed fly for the fast approaching July 4th holiday, Pat said to give him a few days to come up with something.
Pat emailed back this week and sent along this image of this Super Fly original called the "Freedom Slider" and also had a great idea for us to auction this fly off online to benefit Project Healing Waters. This was a genius idea and a few more emails were sent back and forth to iron out the details with Project Healing Waters.
I was thinking yesterday that it would be good to sweeten the pot a bit and have decided to add a set of matte black T.F.M. Retro Fly Abel Nippers and Lanyard to the package as well.
This online auction will start with the first bid that I am making of $100. If this auction bids no higher than I'll write a check to Project Healing Waters but I think we can do much better than that over the course of the weekend.
"FREEDOM SLIDER" AUCTION RULES
1. This online auction is to benefit Project Healing Waters with a hopefully sizable donation. Pat Cohen of Super Fly is donating the "Freedom Slider" original fly and T.F.M. is donating the set of Abel Retro Fly Nippers and Lanyard.
2. This online auction will run from this morning through midnight on Sunday, July 7th, 2013.
3. All bids will be submitted through email to tfmcontests@gmail.com. An email will be sent back to you to confirm your bid was received.
4. I will update this T.F.M. post, along with updates on the T.F.M. Facebook and Twitter pages of the new high bid.
5. On Monday, July 8th, 2013, the highest bid will be deemed the winner and he or she will be contacted by email notifying of their win. Their donation will be sent directly to Project Healing Waters. Donations can be made by check or PayPal.
6. Upon completed donation to Project Healing Waters, the "Freedom Slider" and Retro Fly Nippers and Lanyard will be sent to the winner.
I hope that everyone has a really great Independence Day with their family and friends. If you are not familiar with Project Healing Waters then please take a few minutes to check out their website. This non-profit organization is doing great things with our military through the instruction of fly fishing, fly tying, rod building, and fly casting.
