- Jason Klass examines the benefits and drawbacks of sparse vs. robust flies in a recent post on Tenkara Talk. “Just as there’s no one way to catch a fish, there’s no one way to tie a fly,” Klass writes.
- With the removal of dams, a natural balance of rivers is slowly being restored and fish are returning. “Our goal is to give the river back as much self-control as possible,” says Alison Bowden, an ecologist who works with The Nature Conservancy. “We want to do as much as we can to return a river to a self-sustaining process.” Read more on setting rivers free via The Christian Science Monitor.
- A new US Navy project called “Silent Nemo” has developed a robot “to resemble the shape and mimic the swimming style of a large fish.” It is hoped to be used for surveillance, gathering intelligence, hull inspections, and other missions. Via Field & Stream.
