- John Lahr writes about his education as an angler and what he learned fishing with his father, Bert Lahr, a stage and screen actor who is best known for playing the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz. “Fishing wasn’t an escape from life but a deeper connection to it,” writes Lahr, “to the flow of air and earth, to insect and animal life, to the sun, to the imagination, and, in my case, even to my father, because fishing was the one thing we ever did together.” Via Esquire.
