“Sit-on-top (SOT) kayaks have so many places where a fly line can hang up that some anglers carry a small bucket that they use as a stripping basket to hold line. Other SOT anglers use a seat with pockets in the sides and back. It keeps gear handy without cluttering the cockpit and foredeck, and fly line slides easily off the soft material.” Eric Sharp adds a couple of tales of woe to some good advice about “situational awareness” in kayaks.
