Untamed Angling Announces Yuracaré Lodge — A New Fly Fishing Destination in the Bolivian Amazon

Posted on March 11 2020

From Untamed Angling:

It is with great enthusiasm that Untamed Angling announces Yuracaré Lodge — a new jungle fly fishing destination in the Bolivian Amazon. Located on the Ichoa River, anglers who visit Yuracaré Lodge will primarily target dorado, but they will also have additional opportunities to fish for pacu, yatorana, and surubi.

Located in Bolivia, within the Isiboro Sécure National Park and Indigenous Territory, you’ll find Yuracaré Lodge. This new lodge finds its home where the Amazon jungle meets the foothills of the Andes Mountains, between the regions of Beni and Cochabamba. It is part of the Vilcabamba-Amboró Conservation Corridor, in the Sub-Andean strip of the tropical Andes.

“The many years we’ve spent exploring the Amazon has given us the time to explore new places,” states Marcelo Pérez, CEO and founder of Untamed Angling. “Occasionally we find a destination that is so special that we simply cannot wait to share it with the angling world. Yuracaré is such a place.”

In addition to having world-class fly fishing for giant dorado, pacu, and more, Yuracaré guests will enjoy a comfortable jungle lodge, which was built from sustainable wood from the nearby jungle. There will also be the option to do outcamps at the headwaters of the Namajti and Slotosama Rivers.

Yuracaré Lodge is a joint entrepreneurship between Untamed Angling with the indigenous communities of the Ichoa River, in a very remote and wild area of the Bolivian Amazon. The Untamed Angling model supports environmental sustainability and the social needs of the communities they work with.

About Untamed Angling:

Founded in 2001 by Marcelo Pérez, Untamed Angling takes a unique approach to destination fly fishing by combining fly fishing in exclusive areas with a significant social benefit to local populations and the preservation of natural resources. This model project allows Untamed Angling to explore the best areas for fishing while supporting local communities, cultures, and ecosystems.
