The river clean up on the West Branch of the Delaware was a tremendous success – many thanks to everyone who came out and helped; we made a big impact, taking nearly 100 tires from the river in just a 3 mile section. A big thanks to Brian Benner and Mark Harbaugh of Patagonia, whose funding allowed this event to happen, and to West Branch Angler for all their help in organizing the clean-up and for hosting the BBQ & band afterwards (check out Milkweed‘s website) We look forward to our next cleanup – stay tuned!
Some details:
Participants: 32 (Guides, riverside landowners, FUDR members, WBA
guests/visiting fisherman, local TU chapters, FFF)
Location: 3 miles of the WB (WBA to Balls Eddy)
Boats: 9
Tires Retrieved: 100
Tonnage: 2000 pounds of tires (probably conservative, average rimless tire
weighs 20 pounds, but we hauled out a bunch of huge tractor tires that weighed far more, some with rims), 150 pounds of garbage
