Wonderful Places

When asked why I fly fish over the years, my answer, like other people’s has evolved over time. But, without question, it has always been, whether realized or not, where it’s taken me, the places to see. I marvel at how many young anglers these days realize this far earlier in life than I did and my hope is that it’s because some of us do a better job putting this reason out there in front of more people… so many wonderful places to see and experience, the fish are simply the motivator. Here is a great example:

“Truth be told, I hadn’t heard of the Pasayten Wilderness in North Central Washington until a few years ago when my wife stumbled upon a trail report while researching potential places for a backpacking trip. And there-in lies a large portion of the anonymity surrounding the Pasayten Wilderness: it’s remote, it lacks an uber-famous destination point in a state full of uber-famous destination points, and it’s so big that we were never sure what portion we could bite off and still be able to chew it.”
