“The Best Cool Weather Shirt! I love these shirts! They are warm without being heavy, they look great, and last for years. And I love the patterns! What more could you ask for?” –Mac from MA
While you can argue that every season is plaid season, fall and winter (especially the holidays) take on their own importance where plaid is concerned, and the tartan shirt, in particular, rises to the top of our wardrobe choices. Most of us

Do you remember the first dog you knew? What about the first one you loved? Sadie was a basset hound. Mellow to the bone, ears in her water bowl, low and slow and even-keeled. I was just a young girl, and Sadie lived at my level. She let me pull on her ears, dress her up, and hug her whenever I needed. Dogs, like Sadie, affect our lives deeply and often are the first to teach us about unconditional love....

Canine Parvovirus is a highly contagious, life-threatening disease. With many of the symptoms of flu in humans, puppies and young dogs who have not been vaccinated are most highly at risk. And if catching this nasty bug wasn't bad enough, the most common treatment for puppies in shelters is euthanasia. No wonder the little fella above looks none too happy....

Spey Casting Simplified (kind of)
Posted on September 20 2015
This week we had lots of great questions in the Fly Box because I have not done a podcast in a few weeks—so there were lots of good ones in my inbox. We talk about using the Non-Slip Mono Loop knot for fresh water, tippet rings, tough rising fish, Depth Charge Lines, fly boxes for big dries, click-and pawl reels for trout, up vs. down vs. ring eyes for fly hooks—plus two great suggestions from listeners: one on casting fatigue and the other on a very innovative way to dry CDC flies.
And in the main event, casting instructor extraordinaire Pete Kutzer and I try to simplify Spey casting and lines for two-handed rods. I am not sure we simplified it much but hopefully it will answer some of your questions.

The Fly Fishing Show Appoints New President and CEO

The Fly Fishing Show’s new CEO – Ben Furimsky
From: The Fly Fishing Show
The Fly Fishing Show, producer of the worlds largest consumer fly fishing shows, has announced the appointment of Ben Furimsky as the new President and CEO.
The Fly Fishing Show started in 1992 and Ben became involved in 1993. He has worked for the show as a speaker, fly tier, exhibitor, and staff member on site. Ben took over the role as Co-Director in 2009, working alongside his father Chuck. Over the past 6 years, Ben has expanded his job duties with the show. He will now continue working full time overseeing the day-to-day operations. Chuck will continue his role as Director and his wife, Janet, will continue managing ticket sales. Both will be available at all show locations.
According to Chuck Furimsky, “Ben has been taking over the more challenging and time consuming jobs involved with the show, so completing his transition to President should be smooth and efficient. I’ll be looking forward to more fishing time.”
“I’ve been working with most of our exhibitors for quite a long time, so many will not even notice a transition. We are like a big extended family. My wife, Brooke, and I are very excited about the future of the Fly Fishing Show. I look forward to continued growth and moving our show ahead as a leader in the industry. We are already selling out our 2016 shows at a record pace which is a great indicator for our industry of the year to come,” says Ben Furimsky.
Dates, locations and hours for the 2016 Fly Fishing Shows have been established as follows:
