Reserve Angling Trade Ad Space Now before End of year Rate Increase
Posted on December 10 2014
This latest issue of Angling Trade was our 30th. For over seven years now, we’ve been bringing those in the fly-fishing business the latest news, and lively discussions that help them be more successful. And in turn, we’ve been successful, growing every year, expanding to produce monthly E-newsletters, and more. So thank you.
As production expenses have increased, we are going to raise our advertising rates ever-so-slightly in 2015. This is only our second rate increase ever, and the first in five years. The new rate card and production schedule can be found here, and you will see that the rate increases are nominal. This only applies to print advertising; our online prices will remain the same.
Moreover, we will reward our loyal advertisers by maintaining 2014 rates for all who are willing to make a space commitment by year end.
In any regard, you will want to keep in tune with
Small town turns out big for Browns Canyon
Posted on December 10 2014
From TU:
Hundreds of people turned out Saturday in Salida, Colorado, to show support for a Browns Canyon National Monument. The droves of green “I support a Browns Canyon National Monument” stickers were visible evidence of the overwhelming support, along with speaker after speaker urging administration officials to designate the canyon now.
Don’t let anyone tell you this is a top-down executive overreach. Local residents and stakeholders, frustrated by years of congressional fiddling, made it clear that this is a grassroots effort and that they want to get this special place protected.
The stretch of the Arkansas River that veers from the highway south of Buena Vista and rushes through a steep canyon full of Gold Medal Water fishing, amazing white water rafting, and a pristine back country habitat is
Vermont State Fly On Display at American Museum of Fly Fishing
Posted on December 10 2014
From AMFF:
The American Museum of Fly Fishing (AMFF) is proud to announce that the state fly of Vermont is now on display at the Museum. A law was signed by the Vermont state legislature on May 5, 2014 making the Governor Aiken Bucktail Streamer the official state fly.
The Aiken Bucktail was originally tied in the 1930’s by Russell Merriman of Montpelier, who was a friend of then Vermont Governor George Aiken and developed the pattern along with an oil painting of the fly to be presented to the Governor. After retailer LL Bean brought the fly into the marketplace, the Aiken Bucktail became a popular trolling and casting fly for Northeastern trout and salmon. The fly has a rather glamorous existence; it has been given as a gift to
